Opera

Solo Exhibition
6th - 22nd October 2016
Piers Feetham Gallery

I am passionate about opera. Living in London, I see almost everything at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and at the Coliseum, plus operas performed in churches, pubs and small halls. And not forgetting operatic recitals at Cadogan Hall, Wigmore Hall and wherever opera pops up.

In 2012, I began a deck of tarot cards, all on opera. I wanted every painting to have an appropriate situation or person in opera, fulfilling the meaning of each tarot card. Hopefully, I have managed to include most of the major operatic composers. The writer Philip Carr-Gomm has accompanied my deck, with a brilliant and erudite text. THE OPERA TAROT is to be published later this year.

This exhibition at Piers Feetham Gallery brings together the work of the last four years and I will be showing around 60 works. Operatic studies, ideas and off-shoots, from finished pen and ink drawings (on lokhta paper) to small and large oil paintings on canvas.
